Come join the SSC Choir and full orchestra on April 7th for a special Good Friday service featuring a presentation of one of the most beloved choral masterpieces of our time, composed by one of the most highly respected names in music. Completed in 1985, John Rutter’s Requiem does not adhere strictly to the conventional Catholic liturgy, but combines Latin texts from the Requiem Mass and English texts from the Book of Psalms and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Though it necessarily has its dark moments, the work is unmistakably optimistic in its message of hope and comfort for the world, expressed through the beauty of the chosen texts and Rutter’s uplifting music. As we prepare our hearts for holy week, don’t miss this opportunity to ponder the great sacrifice of Christ’s death and the salvation of His resurrection through worship and beautiful music!
